Our Process
1. Initial Consultation
Every project begins with understanding. Through an in-depth consultation, we explore your vision, lifestyle, and the architectural context of your property, alongside practical considerations such as scale, budget, and long-term use. This process enables us to establish a clear, considered design brief that will guide every decision throughout the project.
2. site survey
A detailed understanding of the site is essential to the success of the design. For smaller or straightforward projects, surveys are undertaken in-house by the Profresco team. More complex sites may require topographical, arboricultural, or specialist surveys, which are carried out by our trusted external consultants. This ensures the design is informed by accurate technical information from the outset.
2. Concept Design
From here, we develop a clear design direction for the garden. Spatial layout, structure, and atmosphere are established, defining how the garden will function and feel throughout the seasons. The concept design captures the essence of the space and sets the tone for the entire project.
Once the concept is approved, the design is meticulously refined. Materials, finishes, planting palettes, lighting, and bespoke features are carefully selected and layered to create depth, balance, and cohesion. This stage is where precision meets creativity.

We produce comprehensive technical drawings and specifications, allowing the design to be accurately costed and constructed. Every detail is resolved to ensure the finished garden reflects the original vision with clarity and confidence.
5. Planting Design
Planting is treated as an integral architectural element, not an afterthought. We develop carefully curated planting plans that complement the structure of the garden while introducing softness, seasonal interest, and longevity. Plant palettes are selected for form, texture, and colour, as well as suitability to site conditions and long-term maintenance—ensuring the garden matures beautifully over time.
6. Construction & Tender Support
Profresco can either undertake the construction of the garden directly or assist with the tendering and appointment of specialist contractors. Where we deliver the build, our design team remains closely involved throughout, ensuring exceptional craftsmanship and faithful execution of the design. Alternatively, we can manage the tender process, review contractor proposals, and provide ongoing support during construction—safeguarding the integrity of the design through to completion.
